Under the leadership of Mr Dheeraj Kumar, a group of former cadets of the National Cadet Corps formed Unity of Indian Cadets (UIC). The objective was to promote responsible citizenship, render social service, and maintain a strong connection with the parent NCC organization.

2014–2016 – Guidance from NCC Leadership

With the mentorship of Brigadier Ran Vijay Singh, (Group Commander Patna Group) the group began working closely with NCC Group Patna. Members participated in leadership activities and socially useful initiatives, strengthening their commitment to community service.

2016–2019 – Formation of Community Traffic Police

With the support and mentorship of Prantosh Kumar Das, IPS (Traffic SP Patna) the initiative expanded into traffic management and public service activities under the Police Act 1861, leading to the formation of Community Traffic Police (CTP).

2019–2020 – Rapid Growth Across Bihar

The initiative was shaped under the guidance of Major General R.K. Gupta, then ADG NCC Bihar & Jharkhand, and further strengthened under the leadership of P.N. Mishra (IPS), then SP Traffic. It also received valuable support from the Group Commander of Patna Group, Brigadier Verma.

During this period, the initiative witnessed remarkable growth, expanding into a network of over 5,000 dedicated volunteers working in close coordination with the Bihar Administration. The Community Traffic Police (CTP) extended its reach beyond Patna to multiple districts across Bihar, earning recognition for its impactful contributions in traffic safety, disaster management, social service, and adventure activities.

2020 – Service During the Pandemic

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, volunteers joined hands with NCC and the State Government to support relief and public safety efforts, demonstrating the strength and dedication of the volunteer network, under the support and guidance of Brig Pravin Kumar, Group Commander of Patna Group (then), and Mr. Amarkesh D (IPS), then Traffic SP.

15 January 2021 – Birth of UDAAN

Inspired by this journey of service, UDAAN was formally established and registered as a Section 8 (Not-for-Profit) organization on 15 January 2021. The inspirational force behind the creation of UDAAN and the vision for its future is its Founding Father, whose guidance and mentorship shaped the organization’s foundation.

Under his mentorship, and with the support of Mr. Sanjay Goenka, a distinguished NCC alumnus, UDAAN was established with nine core members along with founder secretary Mr Amalendu Jha handpicked to carry forward its mission. The organization was created to connect NCC alumni across the country and continue the spirit of discipline, leadership, and service beyond the uniform.
